Yeah for the English language... well sort of...

So here is the beginning of my spring break adventures. Forgive me, it will take me a while to get through everything, seeing as I visited 4 cities in 10 days!!
Starting Friday, I flew to London to take a bus out to Oxford, where a friend of mine, Arjun, is studying! It was very exciting for me to travel to a place where I didn't have to struggle to speak or understand the language! I don't know why, but I seem to have this new found confidence when it comes to traveling, I figure if I can do it in Italian, I can do it in English! After a long day of traveling, I made it to Oxford where my friend gave me the grand tour! I never realized that Oxford University is not one college, but a collaboration of 39 colleges, each with their own curriculum and campus. My friend attends Pembroke College. We had dinner at his dining hall... typical fish and chips before heading out for the night! First we tried to get into a really pretentious bar associated with one of the colleges, but wanted to charge us a fee just to enter the bar! Then, Arjun took me to meet his friends at a pub called Turf Tavern where Bill Clinton frequented and 'didn't inhale any illegal substances.'After some more evening tours of the campuses, we called it a night since we had a long day on Saturday.
Saturday morning we spent in Oxford and I got to see some of the famous colleges in the day light and had a yummy English breakfast before heading into London! Blow is a gorgeous picture of one of the buildings.
As part of the tour, we tried to go into Christ Church College, which is famous for being a site location for the Harry Potter films. The scenes from the movie shot in the great hall and the stairwell outside the great hall are shot there. The porter's wouldn't let me in to see the great hall, but I got a picture of the stairwell below... any HP fans will recognize!
From there, we were off to London to try and see all the sights in 6 hours! I got to see everything from the outside, and only went into the National Gallery for an hour, just long enough for me to run through and see my favorite painting, Jan van Eyck's Arnolfini Wedding. Here is a picture of me in front of Buckingham Palace... It was exciting for me because the flag was raised, which means the queen was actually there... I think that's awesome!
Then I got to see Westminster Abbey from the outside, but it was gorgeous nevertheless! It was a lot of walking for one day and it got pretty cold and windy by the night, but it was a great quick experience to see London and the next morning I was off to Barcelona to meet Sarah and her friend Megan who is studying there.
